marijuana is a type of drug which is where most of the governments of the world to eradicate. for its users, marijuana is very dangerous, many illnesses caused by marijuana. one of the diseases caused by marijuana is a stroke.
Although some substances contained in the cannabis plant is known to have medical benefits, but marijuana can lead to addiction. The two latest studies even mention marijuana can increase the risk of stroke and heart attack.
The first study presented at an international stroke conference conducted by a team from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. They found an increased risk of stroke in people who are smoking marijuana.
In addition, a study published in The American Heart Journal also mentions, aka cannabis marijuana users who had a heart attack have a greater risk of death.
Initial studies on the association of stroke with marijuana was conducted on 160 patients aged 18-55 years who had had a stroke caused by blockage of blood flow to the brain. The patients also did a urine test to determine the use of marijuana within 72 hours post-stroke.
The results were compared with 160 patients from the control group, which were not affected by stroke but came to the hospital for other reasons.
About 16 percent of stroke patients demonstrate the use of marijuana from their urine. While the control group was only 8 percent.
However, the results of the tests do not distinguish between smokers and cannabis users because almost all respondents were positive for marijuana also showed nicotine in their urine.
"Cannabis can cause changes in blood pressure and heart rate were associated with an increased risk of stroke, especially can cause heart rhythm disturbances that are closely linked with the occurrence of stroke," said Dr. Alan Barber, lead researcher.
Meanwhile, research on heart attack conducted by a team from Harvard Medical School to follow more than 4,000 heart attack survivors for 18 years. The purpose of this study to look at patterns between cannabis use and heart attacks.
Of those participants, 109 people smoked marijuana at least once before they reach a hospital. Most aged 40 and 50 years. During the study period, 519 patients died, including 22 people marijuana users.
Although it appears there was an increase in mortality to 29 per cent, but the results were not considered significant. This means that the death could have been influenced by other factors.
Another previous study found that one hour after smoking marijuana associated with an increased risk of heart attack between two to five times. The same risk is also seen in a sexual relationship.
Some research on the adverse effects and positive marijuana plants is being conducted. However, there is no research evidence that clearly reveal an accurate and consistent. This is in contrast to research on smoking and its impact on health.
